Biography: Betsey Jackson


Betsey has many years of experience in information resource management and database applications for health research and has leveraged them in Health Data Services Corporation.  Since 2002, Betsey has been continuously developing relationships with clients and database vendors with an ever-broadening scope in geographical coverage and database types. 



Beginning in 1995, Betsey conceived, developed and directed a profit-making database delivery department at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts, providing health data to commercial researchers.  During her eight years there, she evaluated and delivered data for studies of drug safety, health outcomes, burden of care, pharmacoeconomics, disease management, and treatment patterns. These studies covered a variety of therapeutic areas including respiratory diseases, diabetes, oncology, pain management, pediatric conditions and surgical outcomes.



Prior to BCBSMA Betsey applied information engineering to Medical department information requirements at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals in Connecticut; headed up the database management department at Parexel International, growing it from 15 to 60 in three years; supported the SPIRES database management system at Stanford University and managed the technical data operations for public survey  research Roper Center for Public Opinion Research, an effort of the University of Connecticut, Yale University and Williams College.



Betsey holds a Master's degree in social sciences research from the University of Connecticut.
